• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

ok, so, just recently(about 3-4 mo. ago) I installed a set of NAPA front wheel hub assy.and they have been much better than the checker garbage (which died in about two mo.) So far........ until the other day, my ABS light came on with the trac off light, and then I had ABS or trac control until I turn the car off, and back on, then it works. at least most of the time. this just started when it snowed the other day. I've NEVER had this problem with the car before, and I'm wondering if it's the NAPA parts I need to know so I can ge t them waranteed and replaced if so. I checked my connections, and wheel end play, etc. and no problems found. why would it start doing this??? moisture?? contraction from the cold??, my car is a general POS??

Mine were brand new, just don't remember where I bought them. For some reason the wires werent long enough on the front passenger side once the hub was installed. So eventually the wiring wore through from rubbing on the spindle thingy. The hub itself is fine, I'm just to lazy to fix the wiring. And I also tried to swich sides, but no difference.

I've just learned to live with out ABS, and I have no need for traction control cause I'm a GT.:th_tongue2:

I had wonderedf about something like that. just hadn't wanted to ly in the snow to get a really good look.... ugh, guess I better bite the bullet huh?

I'd check to find out which wheel it is and check the wiring and that the rubber weather proof boot is in place in the connector.

Anything here is possible. the car isn't a lemon necessarily. But if you hate it enough, I'll buy it from you for $100 to help you remove the burden.

well, add a few more zeroes and you'd be about right as I am into the POS for about $10,000 now when it was only worth about $4200 to start with, definitely a LEMON.

lets see, engine, trans, wheel bearings (several sets), tie rods, computer, shocks, fuel pressure regulator, cam positioning sensor, radio, ignition switch, (and various brittle plastic failures) have all crapped out in just a little over two years. and now this ABS issue, that doesn't include what I'm still paying on the payment every month or routine maintenance this is why I am sick of this car. it's been well above and beyond routine maintenance, and has been well taken care of but, every 2-3 weeks there is a new problem in another system. what a POS. I'd would have gotten rid of it but, I can't afford anything better so, I've been stuck dropping money into a car I have grown to hate.
I'd take $4200 on it, at this rate it'd be a steal for someone else, the engine has barely got 50,000 and the new trans maybe 20,000 plus it is lifetime waranteed and gets serviced regularly under warranty. I'm so done with this car anyone who want's to make a serious offer please, email me @ [email protected]

Ok...ok..don't blow another gasket. Sorry to interupt your rant.

I only knew about a wheel bearing. :th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous::th_nervous:

Hey, 10 grand could have bought a ZZP perf block, nice transmission, OEM hubs, tie rods, LCA's (which will need to be replaced soon mr OP....) and a whole lot of other OEM parts.

Matt5112 Ugh, I know, right? this has been over the course of two and a half years, not all at once. actually the engine was about $650 through the car dealer installed. it was a GM mistaken recall block but, unfortunately they installed the old top end on a bottom end with only 22,000 on it. dumb as the old top end had 100,000 + on it.(plus they broke a bunch of things when they installed it) but it was their fault as they were supposed to get me everything for that price and they didn't check, just told me it was complete. after that the trans. died and I would have just sold it but who's going to pay what I owe on a car with a ruined transmission? and no, a junkyard trans isn't an option, it already apparently had one of those! GRRRRR! it's been a LOOOOONG couple years with this stupid car, yet my bro. inlaws parents have a '98 GTP, almost the same color even, and the only thing to ever go wrong with theirs you ask?? AC compressor clutch! double GRRRR maybe it's cause the GTP's are supposed to be higher end, I dunno. my family has owned a ton of Pontiac's and they've been reliable but this one has been such a disappointment.

a lot comes down to preventative maintenance and how you treat it when driving.

It just sounds like you have a well used vehicle.

i bought mine for 5 on the road 1.5 years ago and thus far i've had to replace the LCA's and the exhaust.

Everything else was my own doing.

well, that very well may be. I found out later much much later that the previous owner had an accident too, and I'm sure that didn't help anything, including the trans. and computer. I actually just bought another vehicle today because I'm so burned out with my GP. maybe someone else will have better luck with it now I've basically built them a new car! lol
