Oil line mystery

I have a 1997 Pontiac GP GT coupe 3.8 L The oil lines leading in to the oil filter housing are leaking at that point .Is there a source for replacement lines other than a GM dealer ? Also where do the lines lead to at the other end of them ?

This is a bone stock 3.8 with no turbo or aftermarket parts .The 2 lines that come of the oil filter housing are factory installed and as far as I can tell send the oil into the filter and back out of the filter . What and where are there replacement parts .
 
I tried to post a picture but it will not upload it to managed attachments . Do I need to have more posts before it will allow me to do this . I checked the properties of the picture and it is within the correct size allowed . The oil sending unit is right next or above the oil filter mount . It is not leaking at this time just the oil lines going in to the mount . They look the same as brakelines only much larger approx. 3/8 inch steel tubing with brass fittings .

This picture is taken as if you were under the car looking up at the filter mount .The lines head toward the firewall from this point then under the motor .

thanks for the picture assistance this is located behind the right front wheel and brake assy . As you are looking straight inward . The filter mount is pictured upside down or as if you were looking straight up from the bottom of the car at it . The lines run to the rear toward the firewall for a short distance and then under the engine . I have not checked where they go from there .

I've seen it before. Never on a GP. 92-96 Supercharged Bonnevilles had it. You guys know..while GP's were suckin with 3.1's...lol

I'd expect that to run to the driverside of the radiator into an oil cooler, just like the stock trans cooler, but for oil.

Oil cooling is very effective in cooling a motor. Some say it's nearly as effective as water cooling.
 


This part can be swapped with ones from other gm vehicles... I've heard of guys doing stuff like that to get a bigger filter on.

ya it's a 97 gp gt I don't think it has anything to do with cooling the oil as much as accessability for service . My son owns this car and is having a mech. look at it today . I'll update you soon . thanks for your help
 
The mech said it was a oil pressure sending unit that was leaking down onto the lines and making the lines appear that they were leaking . Easy fix. I am going to take a closer look at those lines when I get a chance and see if I can tell exactly what they are for . Thanks again for your help .
