Oil light

Ok i need some ideas on this one. Every time i sit at a light or a stop sign or just at idle in the driveway my oil light flickers an the hud says check gauges. The second i touch the throttle the light goes back out. The oil level is fine an it doesnt seem to be loosing oil pressure. The only thing wrong that i can find is the dipstick is broken. The plastic part w/ the o-ring is snapped off the top so i pull it up to the cap an put it in like normal an it stays an seems to seal. Could this be causing my problem?

Becca thats pretty odd may wanna look into it. ^ Yea thats true bluegtp. ill have to get my dads an hook it up an see if it shows anything. Any other ideas?

aftermarket Oil pressure gauge is real easy to hook up the sender screws right in to where the idot light sensor is now and you get a actual reading

Well guys now its knocking so i have bigger issues than a sender its likely a rodbearing. Looks like shes gonna sit for a bit then shes gonna be gettin a tear down. Can i pull the motor out the top or do i have to drop it out the bottom?

That sounds like what mine did when I spun a cam bearing. I lost oil pressure after an oil change and about a week later, it started ticking, then knocking.

You can pull it out through the top. Remove your hood, unhook everything, and pull it. Have tons of fun getting the rear transmission bolt out. It screws in from the passenger side. The easiest way to access it is to get about 3 ft. of extensions and go though the passenger wheel well to get to it.

^ thanks for the tips im def gonna need um. Ive pulled the motor outta my buddies mr2 a million times but never pulled the motor outta my gtp yet. but this week starts that whole new ball game. good thing i enjoy workin on my car!

ok when buying my new rod bearings. im gonna prob get them from intense or zzp. is a quantity of 1 all 6 sets or is it a single set for 1 rod. neither sight specifies

thats gonna be a set for $25 it looks like. if you spun a rod bearing your crank is gonna need ground. you might just wanna look for a new shortblock

yea but im tryin to fix this on a tight budget. i know somethings gonna have to happen w the crank as its prob not in good shape but idk that i can find or afford a short block thats complete an not got a million miles on it

well you will be wasting your time and money if the crank is bad and you dont do anything about it. putting new bearings on a scored crank is sure quick death for the new bearings.

well im not gonna just put new bearings on a screwed crank ill def have it ground or buy another crank but shortblock is probably out of my budget. could i just get it ground to .010 under an buy those bearings instead of the standards?

the machine shop will determine if .010 will get it or not, depends on the damage. i didnt say you needed a shortblock, i said it might be cheaper if there was any other damage. do yourself a favor and replace the cam bearings also, they are like $25 for the set, and if they go bad, so does your oil pressure.

yea well see what i truely find once i get into it. ill do the cam bearings aswell. might as well ill be right there. i so wish i had a little extra cash so i could get an s1x an put it in aswell while i have the motor out but o well maybe in awhile i can get one. right now the goal is not modding its fixing so that i can drive again.
