Oil level sensor question

can anyone tell me if they have two or three wires goin to their oil level sensor. So far i have two goin to it .I found a wire loose thatt might have pulled out of the connector but also doesnt look like it was long enough to even go there. Maybe an inch or two short. But it is in the same wire loom...thanks

If you can take a picture... BillBoost37 is our avid "Know-it-all" and loves a good challenge.

With that being said, it should only be a 2 pin connector for the oil level switch. GM# 12603782 shows to use a GM# 12102747 Mating Connector (AcDelco# PT374) which shows to be a 2 wire. If it is a 3, you have an oddball setup.

First whats the problem other than a hanging wire? some have 2 wires some have just 1 wire. The other wire depending on motor could go to the knock sensor, or oil sending unit. And yes a pic would help. I have worked on alot of GP's over the years as a mechanic

Yes, the level sensor is a 2 wire unit, while I suspect that the single wire belongs to the front knock sensor that screws into the block about midway up towards the middle of the block.

Oil pressure sending unit is on the oil filter adapter which is nowhere near the oil level sensor. What color is the single wire?

its black and was just taped up and the tip of the wire was stripped about 1/8th inch...was replacing the motor mount on the passenger side and noticed the wire sticking out of the loom...there are two wires tho goin to the oil level sensor
