Oil Leak

My 1998 Grand Prix GTP is leaking oil. I have to add a little under a gallon of oil a week. I've been under the car to try to find where the the leak is and the only place I can see oil coming is a joint in a silver colored line that takes a back & forth path underneath the engine. The oil leaking from this joint is fresh engine oil so I'm pretty certain this is the problem.

Can someone tell me what this line is and how easy it is to replace?

Thanks

sounds like a oil cooler line, see if you have 4 lines into your rad, 2 on each side, or follow the lines. if not to the rad to a external oil cooler.

posting a pic would help a ton too.

sounds like you need a new line, or repair the break in this one. you can use a compression fitting to re joint the pipe.

How do you have the 9c1 engine oil cooler on a 98 gtp...
most large engine oil weeks can be traced to the rear main engine cover or to the oil pressure sending unit above the power steering cooler near your passenger axle with the bright green connector unplug it and a good amount of oil should pour out and be wet on the inside from where it's leaking internally to the wire terminals.

believe it or not it was a option. not seen often, but there was another member who had it stock. and it was in the rad, dual coolers.

Update - Leak fixed. It was the oil pressure switch. Replaced that and the problem is solved . Sorry I didn't get the pictures up - Bad weather prevented me from getting under the car again. Thank you all for your input.

that would have to be a G/H body

and only the earlier ones had the engine oil cooler inside the radiator end tank on the drivers side, though ive seen a few later cars with them installed because of the larger radiators in the early cars.

we've seen them on the site here, factory external coolers, oil and trans. (97-03 only) its rare tho. like you had to order with those options new.

i questioned it so hard myself i asked the guy to post pics of the dual lines in the rad tanks, tranny one side, oil on the other. it was all there like he was claiming.
