Odd noise in cabin

I wasn't sure where best to post this, so figured general tech would be a good starting point. My daughter's 2006 GP (base model) has an odd noise under hard (not even WOT) acceleration, that I've never experienced before. It is NOT engine knock. It actually sounds like gurgling fluids passing thru plumbing lines, and sounds like it is directly below the front seating area, NOT coming from under hood. There's no fluid leaking underneath. There are no other unusual symptoms to report, everything is operating normally. No operating issues with the engine or transmission. No fluid leaks to report.

Anyone have a clue about this unusual sound that really seems to come from under the cabin? Again, it's not engine knock, I'm no rookie and I know what that sounds like.

Thanks for any feedback!

It could be air trapped in the cooling system. You can hear it pass thru the heater core. There's a bleeder screw on top of the thermostat housing. [Make sure it's full, too.]

thats air in the heater core, the bleeder wont fix this. you need to take both heater hoses off the alt bracket, then flush the core with a garden hose till clear water comes out, (just put one of the hoses to the garden hose with it on med flow.) now keep both hoses as full as you can and put them back on. now the heat will work really good again. as im sure it sucked last winter lol .

Car has been in the upper midwest,(college) the past 2 years. Winter temps as low as -25 F. No problems with interior heat at all. Believe me, I'd hear about it if there was. Flush/fill was performed prior to winter 2017/2018, including the heater core of course. Heater function was no issue. However, the overflow tank level is lower than it should be (engine is currently hot). I'm letting it cool down (takes a while here in AZ) then I'll try bleeding.

Don't know why the sounds are only heard upon harder acceleration though. Quiet during normal city driving.

then it got trapped air over the spring and summer.

the water pump spins faster with higher rpms pushing more coolant to the core. the core is in a piss poor place, its lower then the engine almost, very easy to get air trapped for no reason at all. just happens.

Another possibility is that theres water pooled under the carpet. You could remove a door sill trim piece and get a hand or flashlight under it to find out. If the sound continues the whole time you're on the gas, the others are probably steering you in the right direction. If you think about it, a leaking heater core could explain all the observations posted. You could even be hearing air pockets pass through the heater core at the same time as coolant sloshes around under the carpet pad. Just another something to check. Does the car leave a good water puddle under the evap case drain on a hot humid day? If not, its clogged and you could be hearing the buildup sloshing around. My experience is with 97-02s but this stuff can happen to either body.

Thanks for the additional feedback. Pretty sure there's no fluid under the carpets. And there's plenty of drainage on the ground on a hot day after the A/C's been on.

I'll have to try this another day. I did try bleeding the system, but no air, only coolant released. It sucks working on your cars when it's 110 out there.

Looks like I'll want to add a length of hose to the discharge also, to empty out of the eng bay... instead of in it.

meh, i just let it flow down the fire wall. then rise it down when done. you cant do any damage by letting the engine get wet. just try not to flood the alt. it can get wet, but why test that out on a 100 dollar part? lol
