Odd Electrical question

Hey GP people I have an 2002 3800sc engine. Motor swapped so Just wondering. The PCM is the voltage regulator of the alternator ? right?

I have a reprogrammed computer too. So this is what it does when I start it up it fires right up idles smooth lights all bright then kinda hiccups lights go dimmer. It seems all happy unless I use something electrical even popping the hatch affects it.It seems anything electrical affects the idle even while driving turn on lights car goes UHHH! not happy

Does this sound like an alternator problem? alternator is new battery is new red optima.

Have to hook up a scanner to give you all more information than this

the PCM isnt related to the voltage regulator in the alternator. the PCM is the Power Control Module. it controls all the spark, fuel, and other settings that allow the car to run.

to check the voltage regulator get a volt meter and first test the battery with the car off so you know the voltage out put. then start the car and check it again. if it is changing more then one volt then you have a prob out put should be about 13.5 volt IIRC. anything below this could cause a problem light you are describing

okay thanks for the reply all I didn't know the regulator was in the alternator so pulled the alternator its new but going to get it tested anyway

along with my odd electrical question hooked up my buddy's scanner and while driving the scanner would disconnect????
any ideas? there? it runs funky at that moment too

the power wire for the computer does it need something specific? other than constant 12 volts? I connected it into the lighter circuit think that might be my problem? open to ideas here....

gives me a po118 engine coolant temp circuit high input ....Does this mean it runs too hot ? thermostat bad? temp affecting the running?

and po443 evaporative emission system purge control valve circuit ...Am i right this is the sensor switch thing by the BBV valve?
I don't have this connected to anything can i lie to it to make the code go away?

Alrightie alternator checks out as okay.......
battery is good.............hmmmmm?

guess its a wiring thing oh boy :(
