Obd2 and laptop?

Was just curious as to how many people use their laptops as a code reader and such to scan their cars. I was looking online and i see OBD2 to laptop cables for like 15 bucks. But i also read that some of the software that comes with them are kinda horse crap. If any of you do this what are your recommendations? thanks!

most of use who scan codes with a laptop have a tuner. like dhp, or hpt.

you can get a real code reader for under 20 bucks, or the t app for the same if you have a droid phone or tablet.

I've never heard of anyone using an obd2 cable to connect the computer to the car. the torque app is the most common to be used if you have an android smartphone, then you just need a bluetooth obd2 adapter.
