Now This Is A Little Insane

Re: Not This Is A Little Insane

These boats are "uncatchable," eh?

Guess drug smugglers never heard of an Apache helicopter :th_biggrin2:

Regardless, that would be one hell of a cool skiff!

Re: Not This Is A Little Insane

I used to work in a boat shop that repaired boat propellers, trolling motors, fish/depth finders, etc. I was there electrical/electronic tech, but when things were slow for me I would hop over on the welder and repair the stainless steel and aluminum props. We also experimented on prop modifications for better lift, take off etc. So as a result I got to go out a few times on Skeeter bass boat that I think was 21' long, maybe 23', cant remember exactly now. But it had a 250hp Mercury on it and EASILY reached 80 mph.

I can tell you now, driving 80 mph on water is an extreme difference from driving 80 mph on a road. Ive approached 150 on a road before and your reaction time at those speeds is just plain useless at those speeds no matter how fast you think you are. On water, at 80mph, you can magnify that by 10. Just one little bump in the water or small wave inconsistent with the rest and it gets hairy and that is in a boat with some weight.

So in a boat that light, with that much power, that kind of weight hanging off the end, I dont even want to think of how little it would take to make a high speed run in that thing a complete nightmare.

Re: Not This Is A Little Insane

I just simply love this comment. (As in "flying below radar" we assume. Guess the druggies had never heard of radar "sea clutter.")

I guess smugglers aren't always the brightest bunch around. Maybe if they added a few stickers on it? It would up the HP :p

actually hte CH-47 Chinook is the fastest military helicopter that we have in the inventory if i remember correctly as for max speed

You, I still find that fact odd. I mean that is an odd looking helicopter and looks like it would be slow and lethargic, but its actually not.
