normal ps whine or no?

So, when i first bought the car back in Feb 08, had the power steering pump replaced cuz it was whining

All has been well. Still works fine and everything, but I noticed that when im turning at stoplights or out of subdivisions and stuff while accelerating, i can hear a pretty good amount of whine. Not obnoxious, but noticeable. And it does it even if my wheel isnt all the way to the right.

I noticed this, so one day, i drained as much as i could of the reservoir and put in some new lucas fluid with some lucas seal conditioner. Still hearing the whine.

My question is, would getting the fluid flushed fix the issue? I only got the reservoir and not the old fluid further down in the steering system. Its still the fluid from when it was replaced over 2 years ago and im not sure on what brand the private mechanic used. Can old fluid cause ps whine? Is this normal whine? (im thinking no since i never noticed it before, and reason i ask is i read someone saying Grand prix pumps whine) or could the pump possibly be bad again? Belt slippage? (guessing no since i dont hear belt chirping and its a gatorback only 2 years old.

thanks peeps

Take the cap off and start the car and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times to try and bleed some air out of it. If that does not help it is the pump. I would just run it till it dies.

hmm, i will try that.

yeah, i thought maybe having old fluid in there or some gunk that it could cause the whining. if they high flushed it out and put in new fluid, maybe it would get rid of gunk or whatever could be causing the whining

tried bleeding the system doing the turning of the wheel with cap off, didnt do anything.

however, i think i did it wrong after researching....it says you should do it with the car jacked up in the front with the key ON but the engine off. I was doing it on the ground with the car started. I'm gonna retry tonight. If that doesnt work, im gonna get the system flushed, cuz the fluid looked blackish last time i looked at it. its got about 25k miles on it and i don't know if the mechanic used good brand of fluid or not

sorry to bring this from the dead but did the other method of bleeding the air out of the power steering system work? My p/s whines while taking turns and acceleration, and also when i stop the car and turn the wheel to back into my garage it gets harder to turn and i can hear it whining.
