• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I'm usually an import kinda guy, but I had a kid run a red light and total my nissan 240sx. So I bought my dad's 98 GT for 3000 as my new DD. Needless to say my dad is not really mechanically inclined so he has never done a tune up on the car. On the other hand I am. I bought all the stuff to do the tune up, but seem to be running into problems.

My question is how do I get to all the spark plugs? Is there a FAQ out there that outlines a tune up procedure? It's my first car that is front wheel drive. So this is a little new to me. After doing research for a week, the only thing that I have found is to remove the forward engine mounts and rock it forward. I tried that today and it doesn't seem to want to move. I will admit that I only tried with my hands to move it. I'm not really interested in breaking anything yet. All your help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the community.

If you post up in the engine section you should get lots of answers to what all you need to do. But you are on the right track. Sometimes setting the emergency brake and putting the car in neutral will allow the engine to move a bit more.

Welcome to the forums!!! changing the plugs are a simple task.....it just looks harder than it is.

Just got finished with it and yeah I have to agree it is a real pain in the A**. Oh well hopefully my MPG will go back to a decent number. My dad did tell me that I should reset the computer. Is there anyway to do that other than taking off the positive end of the battery terminal? Should I go into the ecu and jumper something? Thanks for all your help.

doing that won't help anything, and may make it drive worse, the pcm's are self learning just drive it and it will be fine

Well I was on my way home from work and the dam* serpintine belt shredded and put a nice size dent in the hood. Anyone else have that problem? Any known causes?
