Noob Question - Tire Sensors and After Market Wheels

I haven't been on this forum for an hour yet and already have a question, lol!....Ok I seen a set of wheels I was interested in buying. Once I got to the end of the transaction process the asked about TPMS (tire pressure monitoring sensors)....My question is, do I have to have them...the site stated that they are optional, if I don't need them that's $199.96 in my pocket mwha ha haaa!

I would spend the money and get them. If not you are going to have a light on and a ding everytime you start the car.

Other option would be to forgo them from wherever you are getting the rims, and have the tire shop break down your stockers and swap the factory sensors into the new wheels.

Definetely check the valve stems like everyone else says. I doubt your car has tire pressure monitors. One other thing you could check is when you first start the car up, and all the lights on the cluster turn on to show they're working, look for a symbol of the bottom half of a tire with an exclamation point in the middle of it. That's usually what it looks like, I'm not one hundred percent sure. Some late model GM cars use what's called a passive tire pressure monitoring system. It uses the wheel speed sensors to detect small differences in wheel speed due to underinflation of the tires. Hope that helps.
