Hi all. Noob here with a recently purchased 1998 Regal GS w/ 73,500 mi.

Ive read the "97-03 W Body Buyers Guide" and ALOT of the "HOW TO" threads and have come to the conclussion that there are many things that i will need to do to ensure that this car is reliable for the future.

First off id like to thank all of the contributors that help ppl. keep their cars running. I'm sure that anyone that has had to deal with a dis-honest or incompetent mechanic can appreciate this site as much as i do.

Now, right after buying this car i bought it to my local (Dallas Tx) Buick dealership for a multi-point inspection and this is what they told me needed to be fixed/replaced......1 p/a oil pressure sending unit; 1 p/a lower intake gasket; 1 supercharger gasket; 1 upper coolant elbow; 2 yellow o-rings; 1 coolant; 1 lof; 1 p/a rocker cover gasket; 1 p/a oil pan gasket.

i plan on doing the LIM gasket first (to replace it with the GM aluminum one), and to change the coolant elbow, o-rings, rocker cover gasket, and supercharger gasket while i was at it. Were there any other things that i should do at the same time so that i wont have to take apart the engine again in the near future?

Also i will be doing a VERY good cooling system flush to get whatever is in there OUT.

My goal for this car is to have it 1.safe, 2.reliable, and 3.fast ; i'd like to get it to about 300-325 hp.

^this
That's rare around here.

i remember learning that preventative maintenance was the first step to keeping a car running and it just stuck like glue.

thank you for offering to help with getting her in top-top-shape. i plan on knocking it all out after i know exactly what i need to git'r dun.
