Noob here... (but not new to GP's)

Just picked up my third GP, this time a GXP...and have a couple questions...

1. Does anyone know why it sounds like the speakers are always on when the radio is shut off? (white noise)
2. When the fuel management system shut down 4 of the 8 cyclinder? Mine seems to be doing it at low speeds with mild throttle which sounds and feels odd, even though there is plenty of power with throttle.
3. Front brakes were quiet for first 100 miles out of the dealership, now they are squeaking at low speeds, any ideas?

Thanks for any insight you can give......I'm hoping these are just 'teething' problems and nothing major to worry about.

Car is young with only 54,400 miles... 9.5/10 1-owner car.

Amp will stay on for a bit. its data controlled and must remain on for door chime.

DOD is designed to get the most mpg possible.. so unless it needs the power its designed to run less

Thanks rperry435, hopefully that's all it is.....just checking cause the car runs like a charm the rest of the time!

b2crzy,

On the brake noise concern you're having on your GXP, were the brakes new and installed by the dealership? If you decide to visit them to get this checked out, let us know as we're available to work with you through that process.

Sarah,

Thanks for your response and to my knowledge the brakes were not installed new by the dealership where I purchased the car, they were changed by the previous owner and are still in good condition - maybe 85-90% new. I believe the issue might be that the calipers need greased so the pads align equally with the rotors. Any advice would be helpful.

Is there anyway to override the selective cylinder engine management system? - I don't like it activating at low speeds.

I also have another more serious issue that I am going to take up with the dealership before my 1000-mile/30-day warranty runs out. The automatic headlight function works intermittently, and sometimes the lights shut off while I am moving - then I cannot even turn them on manually? Do I have a setting messed up or is there something wrong with my headlight 'light' sensor??? This is concerning because last night (in the dark) - I started the car with the remote starter, put the key into the ignition - then couldn't get the headlights to come on AT ALL - no matter where I turned the switch (auto-or-on), they would not come on. After turning the car off several times and locking the doors, then unlocking again and re-starting the car, they finally came on. One other thing that happened is we stopped to pick up takeout and put the car in park with the engine running - after about 5-mins, the headlights turned off, but wouldn't come back on when I started moving again - it's very strange. I have looked in the OM but this is not something it addresses - Any ideas? Please HELP!

Thanks.

b2crzy,

I’m sorry, but we are not technicians, therefore cannot offer technical or do-it-yourself advice.

In regards to the lighting issue, it may be related to a BCM issue. Please keep us posted of the results of your dealer visit.

Please feel free to contact me privately if you have additional questions.

Headlights are most likely the hdm solid state relay in the underhood fuse panel.

It provides power to the headlights. Less power 70% I believe for drl... 100% for normal headlights. They will just go bad or intermittently work.

The GXP doesn't have the solid state type relays on the fuse block under the hood - everything for low & high beams goes through the BCM, which is what seems to be the problem. A new one installed and programmed by GM will set me back about $400.....ouch.
