Non accurate gas gauge after fuel sending unit replacement

hey guys,

yesterday I replaced my fuel sending unit on my 01 gp gt.

seemed like an easy job. replaced the sending unit with the $20 one I got off eBay.

when I was done, the gas gauge dropped low, then after driving a little bit i was on E, which I thought was accurate judging by how much i drove beforehand. i went to fill up, $64 later, and had a full tank and the gas gauge showed it.

however, i have since driving 40 miles and the gas gauge still shows im on full even though we all know im not.

so am i just being paranoid and its going to drop soon or is there something else wrong causing the gas gauge not to be accurate?

any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks!

On my 04 gp gt1 I go about 60ish miles before my needle drops to show that I don't have a full tank. It will probably drop soon.

Something you will prolly notice in do time is that the gauge likes to slowly drop until you hit about 3/8 tank, then it will drop faster. My car has always been like this after I swapped my sensor out, even my dads mazda is this way.

I bent my float rod when re-installing and its off a bit. You could have tweaked it one way as well, it's not going to recalibrate itself when it's moved.
