Noise when applying E brake

Pontiac Racer

It was snowy in a parking lot so i decided to drift a bit being the juvanile high school kid i am. Well when i pushed the e brake down it makes this noise where it sounds like theres a big can of soda hitting the inside of the trunk. Im not sure why it does this. It does it every time no matter if i do it right after each other. Any ideas??

sounds like the wheels are still turning when the brakes on. pads are likely just metal back there. or out of adjustment.

on dry ground, set the brake, put the car in gear and see if it will move when you gas it. if it does one of those two things are your issue.

your e brakes are like a little drum brake inside the rear rotor.

Think about it, you are using an e-brake to lock the rear tires up. The e-brake shoes are trying to grab a spinning rotor, it's going to make noise.

If it makes a noise when you arent moving and parking the car, then you need to inspect the parts and figure it out. Or just stop using it.

Ok it shouldnt be making this loud banging noise. But ill investigate it more tomorrow. I was thinking they might be frozen but it does it one after the other so thats not likely. Im too concerned cause i guess it prevents me from drifting and thatll end up being a good thing in the long run lol.
