just recently installed a new car stereo in my car, 4 channel amp and speakers, 2 channel amp and a sub, new deck, 2 farad cap, new deck, and 4 gauge wiring kit.

everything was working great until 2 days ago the 4 channel amp stop playing but the 2 channel still worked and drove home from work with just bass.

next day go to start my car and turned the key and all the dash lights turned off and so did all the power to my car. never had a problem like this before, key even got stuck in the ignition. i disconnected the fuse so my amps wouldn't be draining the battery and hooked up the battery charger all day, and it still wouldn't start the same thing happened. tested the battery at napa today and its 100% charge and health.

anyone know why this is happening?? i hooked up my 4 gauge power wire to the 12volt output on the fusebox inside the engine compartment (which seems like a stupid f*****g idea now) did i do some major electrical damage here?? need help please

The fuse box is a fine place for the power wire, Test the alternator. Best thing to try, unhook the battery, charg it. but leave it unhooked for a while(overnight if you can), this will reset the computer in the car. then try it.

when you were installing the system, did anything spark? like did you touch any live wires to a ground source? this could blow a fuse, or f*ck up the computer

well, if it doesent work, then the problem isnt your alternator. :( But being that you just got your system, it wouldent hurt to check it anyways..

installed the battery today after cleaning the crap out of the terminals, and it works! thanks!

should i still use the 12volt off of the fuse box or should i connect it straight to the positive on the battery? can i fry anything in the fuse box by using that 12volt?

no, you will not fry anything, it is a good spot. Just have the fuse or breaker as close to it as you can, i.e about 1 foot of wire from the fuse box to the inline fuse.
I'm glad that worked for you! get that alternator checked out!

and easy in-car test is to have the car running, and unhook the battery, the car should stay running from the power right from the alternator
