No Overdrive/4th gear...need help

2000 GTP with 115k miles, I just bought it. It had no overdirve and a tranny shutter. I did a service on the trans. Filter and fluid plus a lil Lucas and still no OD. It shifts under power just fine, Anyone have an idea as to what might be going on?:th_lipssealed1:

If you would have tried a search, you would have found that your 4th clutch hub is stripped, you need a new trans or a rebuild.

Yes..and being in AridZona.. you may have a couple local buddies of mine near you. One does work on transmissions. To swap out a 4th hub shaft (if that's the issue) isn't bad with the trans in the car.

You don't need a whole new trans... just the 4th gear clutch shaft. Pick up a Hardened one from ZZP for like $80, then gaskets, then some fluid and swap out the shaft, can be done with the trans still in the car..

My 4th has been gone for over a year now.. i just drive it like that haha.

Gas mileage FTL. Plus your transmission is getting pretty hot running those high RPMs. I'd just get it fixed!

No DTC codes, computer is telling the trans to shift and the lockout is working properly but yet no 4th gear. Looks like i will be giving it a new 4th gear. Thanks you all for your input as to I am new to the GTP group. Only one regret; I DIDNT BUY ONE EARLIER!!! even without 4th gear, a very fun car to drive!

FWIW ZZP is very overpriced on the shaft.

TEP has them cheaper and sometimes you can find a name your price on ebay. I've gotten a couple for $45 shipped.

Also if your not comfortable doing the work yourlsef let Bill know hes very reputable on here and can hook you up with one of his buddies :)

Last off topic post. It's a color Gm used for 1 year on bonneville, and I think GP's too. In sun it'll look green, dusk...and it's purple then teal .. it's a cool color. But busting a buddies chops is always in order.
