• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

No heat at idle?

Since it's been getting cold out here I've noticed the heater in my car won't work unless I rev the car up at 2000-2500 RPM. Seems like a flow issue? I know that a CAI will make it harder for my car to warm up but this is garbage with how cold it is.

your open cone filter has nothing to do with the cars warm up time, its the same.

your heater core is air bound.

take the 2 hoses off the back of the alt bracket, then take a garden hose to one of the hoses, it matters not witch hose, push water through the hose till water comes out the other hose, then put the hoses back on the engine.

it happens more then you think, theres been like 10 to 20 of these posts every fall or winter, lim job probably had nothing to do with it. it just seems to happen some times.

My method is to make sure the system is full, and bleed as best you can, and if that's not good enough, keep revving it until the pocket is pushed out of the heater core then bleed it. Some systems are picky and you must flush it then quickly put the hoses back on. I guess that's the last resort for me. I might go out and floor it a few times to see if the RPMs and the force can push water back to the heater core, forcing air forward then bleeding.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass bleeding stuff. I'm positive it's from when my LIM blew out on me cause I didn't notice that my car lost all it's coolant when I was driving and I'm sure that it pushed a bunch of air through. I flushed the dexcool all out with water, but I guess I didn't eliminate the air in the system as I thought I would have.

Its common after a cooling system service. That's usually when people have issues with air in the system. That just happened to a friend of a friend. They took it to get the overflow tank replaced because it cracked, and then afterwards they only had heat if they were giving it gas. It had dexcool so we flushed everything out and used universal, and made sure to bleed it real well. No complaints still.
