No headlights or dash lights when the headlights are turned on. HELP!

I posted this earlier in the wrong thread. It was a little hard to do from my iPhone. Anyway, here's whats going on. A few times my headlights would just turn off and at the same time the dash lights would go off. The headlights would stay off but the dash lights would blink for like a second then turn off again. It would keep doing it until I turned the switch off or at night turn the car off. If I turn the switch to the parking lights they turn on and there is no issue with the dash lights. But as soon as I move it to the headlight position it turns off. It acted like this on and off for a couple weeks now I can't get any headlights at all. After doing a lot of reading it is my understanding that it could be anything from a circuit breaker to possible a relay to a switch to replacing the turn signal switch. But I couldnt find my exact issue with the dash lights and the headlights acting up together.
This is on my 2000 grand prix and I do have HID's installed that worked perfectly for the last year. I unplugged the DRL module and have done the tweak for the alarm not to blink the headlights. I am really at a loss here and desperately need my headlights without having to start buying tons of parts to try to eliminate problems.

Thanks so much, I love this forum!

Headlight switch
Ignition switch
or
BCM

I would first remove the headlight switch and make sure it's not melted.

Thanks Rico,

I'll give them a try. Just a noob question here but the headlight switch and the automatic headlights use the same switch right?

I think the BCM turns the headlights on via a relay.
Not 100% sure though.

Maybe someone else will chime in?

Edited: It would make sense that the BCM uses the same relay as the manual switch, if that is what you are asking.
