No Drive or 3rd gear

So completely out of the blue my gf's 2001 SE 3.1 decided it will only shift into park, reverse, neutral, second and first. If I put it into drive or 3rd it will not move, but it shifts smooth into all other gears and moves without issue.

I'm not looking forward to it, but was getting ready to order a rebuild kit unless anyone has any other suggestions. I searched the forum and the web, but couldn't find anything described quite the same.

Any info is greatly appreciated. I'm in a bit of a time crunch and have to get the parts ordered tomorrow to get it done this weekend.

snapped forward band would be my guess. and yes you need to rebuild it to change it.
