No AM Radio since After Market install

Hey Guys,

I installed the Pioneer AppRadio in my '04 GP and everything works great except no AM radio (Morning Sports Radio). FM works fine. I am sure it has something to do with the powered antenna and something needs to be spliced to voltage but have no idea which wire it is? Any help would be appreciated.

I have had the same problem with both of my aftermarket radios, I get a little recepion but not much. I think it might just be how it is
 
The weird part is as soon as I turn the car off, I get reception, albeit not great. As soon as I turn the car on, I get absolutely none on AM which leads me to think it has something to do with the antenna but not sure. It's not a huge deal, I can use Tune-in on my iPhone to listen to AM but would rather let the radio do it.
 
I guess "Powered Antenna" may be the wrong choice of words. I heard that the GP's (I have a 2004 GT1) have a powered/amplified antenna's that requires a power source to boost the signal? Simply plugging the Antenna cable into the After Market HU doesn't amplify the signal enough to get AM radio is what I am thinking?
 


it came on the car. i tried a quick google search but didn't come up with anything. i had this same head unit in two other gtps and had the signal problem. my buddy has a monte and he had that little antenna on his window, too. i don't know if its a signal booster or another antenna. it is mounted on the back window and the wire goes through the glass. i don't know where it runs from there but it doesn't go into the dash where the stereo is. anyway, i get am radio and all the stations and hd stations come in clearly with that little doodad.

go to a car audio shop or to best buy or something and ask.
