No 4th gear in an 04?

I have a 86 Pontiac Fiero that I swapped in a L67 from a 2000 GTP and used a transmission from a 2004 Impala SS. I added an external range selector switch and it seems to be working great except it would seem I am missing 4th. Being that the trans is from an 04 I don't believe that it is the 4th gear Clutch hub as it should be hardened. Any ideas? The solenoids maybe?

04's somewhat a bastard year like the 97. its got some left over tranny parts, like the not hardened 4 th hub. so chances are you need a 4 th hub.

Annnnnttttttt try again on that bastard thing.

03 was the changeover year. I have seen two 03's that didn't have the hardened shaft (was in 03 transmissions). But they were both early production cars and received the remaining parts. By 04 you have the hardened shaft.

When you dropped in that 04 trans, did you update the trans file and double check wiring etc? You could check the solenoid powering to see if you are getting the right combo to engage 4th.

Search on my name and "trans info". There's some great links (especially the last one).

Are you talking about this thread?

That is the one that I used when putting in the external switch. The wiring harness I had was from a 2000 so I did not really have much to mess with there, just making sure that they were all good when I got to the PCM. The PCM is running a 2000 Grand Prix GTP Flash as well from HPT. Everything else seems to be shifting fine with the trans, it just refuses to get to that last gear.

i think bills saying you need to copy the files from the 05 tranny into your 2000 file. and im sure you needed to do a gear change already to run that tranny if its a n/a tranny.

its a 05 tranny, so its settings are likely not the same, i recall reading this before. 04 up is not exactly the same tranny electronically.

The gears I think were slightly different in the impala from the gtp

Or the sprocket, I forget off the top of my head.
