no 1st gear, trans shop says it's pcm

well they finally got my trans back together. Problem is, when you put the trans in drive it starts off in 2nd gear. They think it's the pcm since when they command 1st gear with their computer controller it goes into 1st gear. They're telling me in need a new computer. I'm going to try a reflash 1st. Anybody have any idea what would cause that other than a pcm?
 


Let me just take a second to say something about Dave at TEP. He is a GREAT guy. I called him and told him the situation, he took the time to talk to me about the problem and even gave me advice. Didn't even seem to mind but happy to help. I would recommend him to anybody.

I have a similar problem, so what you're saying is I need a new pcm or can the one I have be sent in for a reflash (currently stock). If so who would you guys recommend.
 


I sure would love the help, but unless someone with the tuner lives here in Puerto Rico, its shipping time. I was thinking of maybe doing an upgrade to the pcm. What do you guys recommend? I looked at intense and think their standard level should do.
