I bought a 97 Grand Prix Gtp years ago from a private seller who apparently either had a remote starter / alarm put onto the car or did it him self. When I bought the car I had the remote to the car and the main car key however I lost both. I had a spare key that I had made at ace hardware and the spare key worked for awhile and then one day it wouldn't start the car. When I would put the key in the ignition and try to start the car it wouldn't start and the alarm would go off. I then replaced the ignition switch thinking that was the issue due to only having the spare key however that was not the issue. I then took off the floor dash under the steering column and discovered the previous owner had a avistart remote start / Alarm on the car. On the drivers side along the door panel he had some red switch which I'm guessing was the valet switch however this broke off so I cant manually disable the remote starter / alarm. The car does not start with the spare key however when I unplug the battery cables and plug them back in the remote starter kicks in and the car runs for a couple mins and dies back out but I cant get it to stay running. Any suggestions?
