Meh.... I'll believe it when I see it. Yahoo has made a lot of claims about the corvette line that hasn't been true.
 
I hope that is all false. I don't want no steenking formula 1 car, I want a corvette for the raw big block power

F1 is limited to 18K unless they submit to a limited budget....

10 is HALF of 20, which is what they used to rev to before they limited them.

There will be several different types of engines offered for the C7, including a more classic, big-block OHV V-8 designed to appeal to traditionalists.

10,000 RPMs, uh can we say metal fatigue. F1 cars and other race cars only have to survive a race and then are rebuilt.
 
i'd rather see a high revving smaller v8 then a big block anyway. old technology is stupid to keep using.
 


GM was also considering making the C7 Mid Engine, RWD but that too fell out after they decided it was too dramatic, expensive, and didn't fit the platform properly.

Big-Block is old school. Direct Injection is where its at. Take that paired with the 6.2T S/C motor and you will dominate everything around the block and still have gas left over afterwards. People love the V8 rumble, if they didn't rich people would buy civics instead of vettes :th_laugh-lol2:

Good to see someone with sense. 3.0l V8 + high revving = quicker power and more fun. Turbo's will also mean, that car would be faster than your LSx motor in no time at all.
 


Sideswipe in Transformers was a Vette Stringray Concept.. which looks like new vettes.

I love the look of Sideswipe. Ol Stingray meets new designers and makes a baby. Its a thing of beauty.

Don't get me wrong, the European sound is an amazing sound, but I (personally) don't think its fitting for a Vette. They have always had the rumble and loud muscle sound and I don't think it should be any other way. I also think that given GMs 100,000mile warranty that still applies to the Vettes will not work with this smaller, turbo'd, 10k revving v-8 that makes less power than the current setup. I think there is too much to go wrong with them for GM to put it into production, when tweaking and Direct Injection will suffice with the current setups already. Corvettes are not designed to be like efficient daily drivers, they are muscle cars meant to show off. Keep them that way.

Ill tell you all in a couple months what we find out at the dealership, if the C7s show a 3L in my parts catalog you will definitely know :th_laugh-lol2:
 
Here's my meh spill.

Will the smaller non-existant, never make it to production V8 with snails be efficient...sure. I hate the fact that people are phasing out old technology that still works. Fuel Injected, or even Direct Injected Pushrod motors are still making awesome power numbers and are still netting great MPG's...even people with the new Z06 are pushing over 30 when cruising on the highway...so...why not put the $890 billion into something that matters? Like making a better performance sedan?

Also, to Dave's 2 comments...

The F22 deal...different design...DOHC...different platform ya know? Different parts...different wear points. Bigger motors don't need to rev high...which is why I don't think those 3.0 turbo 8's will go anywhere. Not everyone will go for the Ferrari-esque noise from a 'Vette...especially older men...who the biggest target sales are.

To the comment about the red 'Vette...that isn't the current one. The C6 is still in production...that is the same one as the picture Aaron posted for the most part...and is dubbed the C7, which actually isn't in production until appox. 2013.
