Well long story short I got a new to me pcm for my 97 gtp. unbolted/unplugged my old one plugged the new one in and the car wont start up. All lights come on fuel pump primes the car just turns over. Don't even attempt to start up no popping nothing just turns over. If I plug the old pcm back in the car fires up first turn of the ignition. Is there anything on the pcm that I can determine the year of car the pcm came out of I know 97's only go to 97's. So I didn't know if maybe it came out of a different year and wont work. Any thoughts would be a help since the pcm that is in the car now makes it run about 9* of kr at WOT and shifts into 3rd gear WOT at 5200 rpm
 


There should be an ID number on it that someone should be able to cross reference. I can't, but maybe a dealership can. But definitely should have a number to tell you what year it came from. But you should also be able to just take your car to a dealership and they can reflash the PCM. Cheaper than buying a used PCM probably.
 
why would you think swapping PCM's would fix anything? You would still have to get a case learn, and at the end of the day changing pcms is not going to eliminate KR....

Put the old one back in and burn the new one you have that is probably out of a n/a car or something. To replace a 97 PCM, you will probably have the same number on all of the tags... at least the H/W number will be the same if not the software number as well.
 
Well there is more then just the kr problem with the car. Im thinking someone with no knowledge of tuning a pcm screwed with some stuff inside of it. (the old pcm not new) Ne way I figured If I switched out pcms it would help for now not cure the problem. Until I get the money to get a box tune for the car since it is my only car that runs atm. So I cant send out the only pcm I have to get it tuned. They said it came out of a 97 GTP and I don't think they would lie seeing as they are a reputable member of this forum. I didn't know if it would start the car without a case learn or not.
