New Updates! After swapping 98 gp gtp 3.8 s.c. into a 2002 gp se car

Re: NEED HELP! after swapping 98 gp gtp 3.8 s.c. into a 2002 gp se car

Finally got ALL my issues fixed!
Ended up getting a 2002 gp gt engine harness, and a 2000 gtp pcm.
Had to relocate several wires, add the fuel pump resistor wire between the fuse/relay center and the pcm
what a battle this has been, no codes popped up yet, ill drive a couple of days and see how she goes.

Thats good to hear :) now time to mod it :)

Re: New updates: after swapping 98 gp gtp 3.8 s.c. into a 2002 gp se car

Well After driving car the car a couple of days had a few problems-p0650=malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) control circuit, p0131=o2 sensor circuit low voltage bank 1 sensor 1, and p0300=random/multiple cylinder misfire detected. Weird ones-run very well up to about 3800 rpm and stumbles a bit but eventually takes off-suspected running out of fuel, trans shift point were all over the place, boost gauge on dic did not show up, incorrect gear ratio did not show up on the scanner, and Perf shift did not work at all.
The scanner is fairly new to me and was playing around with it and found where you can pull the vin and to my surprise, the pcm was for a L36. Someone at the salvage yard or owner of the car must have changed it out not knowing. There were enough clues i should have figured it out on my own. So i swapped out with my 98 pcm and and back in business again:)
Now almost everything works correctly- Perf shift works only at WOT and with neither dic or dash light coming on, at WOT first gear is smooth through shifting into second then around 4000 rpm stumbles a bit but picks back up and same with third, the codes that pop up now are- the incorrect gear ratio (which i already know why), p1671=MIL solenoid circuit and p1646=boost solenoid/5v reference c/evap vent circuit.
Now doing a little searching and see what i can figure out.:th_laugh-lol3:

Re: New updates: after swapping 98 gp gtp 3.8 s.c. into a 2002 gp se car

I've done a lot of searching and all ive come up with is the pcm pin out for a 98. Cannot find one for a 2002 to compare. Nor pin out for engine harness plug where it plugs into the fuse relay/center. I believe that the 98-02 fuse/relay centers are the same except for the GTP's having having the extra relay #15 for the two speed fuel pump. But am not 100% sure. Are the pin outs the same on the 98-02 PCM'S?
I'm still trying to figure out these last two problems:

p1671=MIL solenoid circuit and p1646=boost solenoid/5v reference c/evap vent circuit

Can anyone shed more light on this and or have anymore info?

Ya its plugged in but im suspecting its not wired right to the pcm
I used the 02 gt harness and moved the bbv plug and wires from the 98

Found almost all wire information needed to trace this down but have not found pin out info for the pcm plug that connects to the fuse/relay panel yet.

Well i purchased a snap-on Sollus Ultra scan tool, cant believe all the info that's packed into this thing. Still learning how to use all the features.Anyway rewired bbv now im getting full boost, lost all other dtc's except mil control circuit
and only current one is several cylinder misfires, still gonna look into this one later but run out of time today.

Btw my friend is interested in the hud. Only thing is it looks like youll still have ro pay shipping on tb

Finally got all of the electrical bugs worked out, got a hold of a 2000 gtp fuse/relay box, pcm, bcm, and digital dic, all is well now.
