Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

New (to me) car time! Z28 for the win!

Got a killer deal on a mildly used 2002 Z28 Camaro. Runs great, made the 150 mile trip back from where I got it no problem, Sounds great, and looks.... Like a Camaro. So ok.

Only mods done previously to car was a catback exhaust. Sounds pretty good.

Car appears to have been not molested too much. Time will tell.

SO my thoughts were, Cam, Headers, Tune, Intake, and Maybe nitrous. Anybody have any better ideas???

Oh and in case anyone was wondering, NO it is not faster than my Grand Prix. GP put three cars on it from 30 to 90ish. Probably would have been worse from a dig with my nittos and huge torque difference rwd or not.

Brother in law and I will run them again this weekend and video it. LOOK FOR IT SOON!

I bet you could find a pretty sick heads/cam combo and if you do an intake, why not an LS6 intake? I've been looking for a good 4th gen Camaro/Firebird for a while, just haven't had the money to get one.

I've actually heard good things about the ls6 intake. Either that or a fast 92 will probably be my choice.

I honestly wanted a firebird but couldn't find one for the right price. So another camaro it is. This makes the third I've owned.

how much are the fast 92 intake's? I see the LS6 intakes for sale on ls1tech for about 300. there is a white '98 Firebird for sale somewhat local to me for about 4500 that I've thought about checking out, but the star's haven't aligned yet. There isn't much difference between the LS1 and LS6, as far as I know, in 2002 the Z06 Vette made 400 hp with an LS6, the cam had more lift, the intake was better, and I'm not sure what else they did to make that much more power over the 300 hp rated LS1.

Fast 92 intake is pretty expensive but about the best you can get. IF i go all out h/c/i build i'll do that one. If not i'll go cheaper with the ls6 or similar.

2002 LS1's come with the LS6 intake. My 02 SS has one as did my dad's 02 Z28.

See if you can find an SLP grille with the bowtie. They were discontinued but maybe you can find one.

The 02's are notorious for the sale panel to develop bubbles. That is the sealant from underneath the sail panel coming to the top surface. A repaint will not solve the issue. The entire panel has to be removed and replaced with a previous model year. My dad's hard top had that issue and mine has that issue. Mine is not that bad right now.

The PCV hose is another issue. It can degrade over time. The LS6 valley cover is an upgrade to make the PCV internal versus external. It will remove the external tubes that crack. I'm in the middle of doing this.

Other than that these are good and easy to mod. Enjoy it.

Quick update. Ordered an SLP lip, Texas Speed headers and y pipe and some paint to touch up a couple of spots.

Also picked up plugs and some throttle body cleaner and maf cleaner so I can give her a nice tune up.

Also raced my GP again. Sadly no video again as when I go fast I try not to distract myself with stuff that can get me killed. I'll get a buddy to ride with one of us soon enough.

GP put about 3 on it to 110. Down low it was bad.....

Yep 02 LS1's have the LS6 intake and cam.

There are tons of mods out there that can wake the car up. A tune can really help. I assume it's an auto? What gears in the rear end?

Tons of info on LS1tech

Been on ls1tech since 06 when I had my ls4 monte carlo. I'm all over it don't worry.

It's an auto. Stock 2.73 gears. Might eventually go to 4.10.

Oh and I ordered hp tuners. Gonna tune it myself like my gp.

Put on the lip, cleaned the maf and throttle body today. Noticed a big difference in throttle response and low end feel.

Maybe those 15 or so stink bugs that were caked on the maf honeycomb weren't suppose to be there......

Also drove my GP. I know a ton of people are in love with f-bodies and the ls1 but damn, nothing beats the instant torque of a m90 with a tiny pulley.

fire up the 'ol google machine and look around. although they do lots of business and lots of people run their parts, they suck.

don't order a comp cam from anywhere, either. cammotion or nothing.

Well I've already ordered their headers. I guess I'll find out first hand how bad they suck. Should be here tomorrow.

There are a ton of choices for cams on these so I'm still sifting through them all. Anyone with suggestions I'm open to them.

It's hit and miss with Texas Speed. I'd honestly compare them to the ZZP of the LSx world. Some people like them, others rub it in the dirt. I've never had an issue with them...and my old man has bought a few clutch related products from them along with a full SLP intake kit for his '02 Hurst SS. I've always bought lifters from them in their 3800 section too for an FBody when I'm building an L67 or the like. Personally never had an issue.

I've heard LMR (Late Model Racecraft) does great cam grinds, but you have to contact them. Their site really just tailors for package deals...and that means $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

For the GXP...was planning on going with BTR...they seem to do pretty decent as well.
