new tips

The time has come for new mufflers, and with it new tips. I really want a set of dual dual tips, and I was wondering if someone could help point me in the direction of a decent, cheap set. Before you say anything, yes I know there's tons of cheap tips all over ebay if I just go look. However, I want to make sure I get something that is NOT going to stick out past my bumper much, if at all, which is where you guys come in. So what kind of inlet diameter and overall length should I be looking at? The muffler outlet is 2.25" so should I be looking for 2.5" inlet on the tips so that they can sit over them allowing some options in terms of how far back they sit? A lot of options I've seen on ebay have a 2.25" inlet and are around 12" overall length, which seems long and would also require them to be welded end to end. I really dig 40th/special edition tips, both how they sit in the bumper and also their size, but a little bigger would be tolerable.

Any input would be appreciated.

Check the pick n pull for a 40th/SE/Daytona bring in a cordless sawsall and have at, I bet they would let you have them for right around $20.

Was there supposed to be a picture because I dont see one?

71 bucks shipped, sticking in or out all depends on who welds them up.

Okay yeah I see it now, you want the tips off a 40th/SE/Daytona like mine. I have mine tucked in a little bit farther than stock though.

Even if they look bad at the junk yard they can clean up real nice.

If you find some 40th tips in the salvage yard and bring a sawzall, bring multiple batteries / blades. Mine isn't at the salvage yard but two batteries didn't even get one tip off. You pretty much have to cut thru the muffler flange and the tip both at the same time. Thats after snipping the clamp. Stock clamps are attached to the mufflers, and don't think you can open up the clamps and pull the tips out. That ain't happening, tried it!

Visually I like the 40th tips. Russosaur's look good but slightly too crammed looking for my taste. SomeDude's look cool but yeah aren't tucked very tight. I figure when the time comes for me, I'll see what the muff shop guy has that day and go from there.

White ligthning what did you use to polish your tips? I used some stainless polish and cleaner from my work and a green scratch pad.
