WTF is this ricer looking mustang?

How does knight rider go from a trans am to a ricer mustang?

I mean, it looks decent, if it was a 350Z... But its a mustang!

As a car enthusiast, I don't mind it so much. It's a little over the top, but so is the show.
 
At the time of development, the Challenger and Camaro weren't available. It was either this or an import.

That doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of loathing I have for this show. I'm a huge fan of the original, but this makes me want to gouge out my eyes with plastic spoons. What the hell is up with the "transforming" that the car does? It's like a cross breed from the red-headed step child of Knight Rider and that show Viper.

havent seen the show but u gotta admit, the mustang looks sick...i hate fords but the mustang is a decent ride i must admit, even though its like the fastest thing ford can make (excluding the GT500)
 
The pilot was not bad at all. I still have it recorded in hd. I will watch it
And no daivd is not in it. well he was in the first one but only for one scene
