New mufflers, where did my sound go? :(

Replaced my old rusting dynomax super turbo mufflers with some dynomax thrush mufflers. During the process the shop noticed my resinator had a leak and cut it out, replacing it with some pipe.

Here is my problem: It still sounds beautiful when I stomp on it, but my car is way too quiet now. Granted some of the sound I was use to was coming from the holes in my muffler and resinator, now that the new mufflers are on and everything is sealed up I've lost all the groan I came to love from my car. My new tips haven't come yet; right now there is just some 2" tail pipe coming out the back. Will proper tips add some tone?

Without getting in to headers, a new down pipe, etc etc etc, what should I do to get some dB back? Yank the pipe out and put in a new resinator? Call me stupid if you must but I thought the resinator quieted down the exhaust, and assumed without it things would actually be louder. Do I have it backwards?

quiet is not better. my girlfriends Kia sounds meaner than my car now. Can someone at least clarify the purpose of a resinator for me?

I get it, loud car should = fast car. If I had a cam, some headers and a flux capacitor in my car my exhaust would sound great. Old exhaust just grew on me I guess
