• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

so I'm buying a 2001 grand prix GTP just curious what are some simple mods I can do that make the car funner to drive but don't cost a fortune. There are alot of black friday deals out there I want to try to take advantage of some of them. The car is a daily for my wife and she wants it to be fun to drive but super expensive. I have very little knowledge of the platform for I have been modding my Dodge Charger and looking at parts for this I'm in mod heaven everything is so much less expensive then parts from the Charger so before I go crazy I just want to know what some basics are. she says she wants to be able to keep up with it one day. Here are a couple but let me know if there is anything else that is simple that I should try to look at.

I see ZZPerformance has 50% off their PCM's is this a good mod will I gain power?
U bend delete is another one.

Dont waste your money on a canned tune. put it towards getting a dyno tune eventually. Buy a powerlog header 30% off and downpipe 20% off. Unless you plan on running headers. Oh and the Modular pulley system is 30% off right now. Id do a 3.4 pulley to start with if you also buy the exhaust I mentioned. or headers of course are best. ZZP stainless are onsale, but a little too rich for my blood ($500) I ordered SSAC for 225 shipped a couple weeks ago... still waiting on them to arrive. If you want to run a cam now is a good time to decide that as well. free titanium retainers with cam purchase ($100 value) and if you wanted to you can get rollmaster double setup for 30% off right now too.

Read and research what you can and can't do... And jumping into mods first is a mistake IMO.

Plog is a waste, pulley drops come later, do maintenance first to get car ready for longevity. Plugs, wires, oil, tranny pan drop with filter, coolant flush, check struts, suspension, rubber. Check lim and coolant elbows for leaking, valve covers as well. THEN think and make a plan for mods... Headers first and foremost and go from there.

:)

Cheap/Fast/Reliable

You can only have 2 of the 3, so chose wisely!!!

Welcome to GPF, take your time on modding and most of the stuff on ZZP can be found here in the for sale section for way cheaper. I agree to do headers first, wish I had.

thanks for the input.
I'm getting the car from and good friend and its been taken good care of.
I'm not trying to seriously mod this thing just want to do a couple of things to make it a lil faster then the average GTP not a record breaker.
and yes I have no problem buying stuff second hand.
