• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

NEW GTP Special Edition owner in Maryland

Hey all,

Just picked up a pretty clean 2001 GTP Special Edition for my son over the weekend. We've both always liked them, and he has wanted one since he got his license. After wrecking two 5.0 Mustangs and an Integra (that one was not his fault, lol), he's finally go his dream car.

No pics yet as it's been raining since we got it, but it's all black, tinted windows and chrome wheels...loaded up with options, like most Pontiacs. I attached 2 generic photos of the same car though for now...

I'm a car guy and LONGTIME gearhead, but this is my first experience with a supercharged V6. Have had a few very quick/fast supercharged cars in the past (10 second Mustang, 11 second Mustang, etc.), and a few turbo cars (Daytona TurboZ, Turbo Coupe T-Bird), and several nitrous cars, so I am no newbie to power, and I am a mechanic/fleet manager by trade...but very new to this particular car...It is quite impressive for what it is.

It, unfortunately, already has a SERVICE ENGINE SOON light on for low MAF flow. I took it off and cleaned it yesterday, but it came back on soon after. :th_shakinghead2: I'm guessing since wiring looks good, the sensor itself is bad?

Anyway, I am sure to be asking some questions, and obviously helping others if I can...look forward to being a site member here. :th_thumbsup-wink:

BTW, I already have HPTuner MPVI Pro, so we "may" be doing some tuning on this thing in the future. Are there any site sponsors or vendors that do either mail order, or email type tunes on here?

welcome! can't wait to see some pics

As for tuning almost everyone has some sort of mail order (or email .hpt file) tune you can do for basics

Overkill
WbodyStore
ZZP (not recommended by some)
Intense

we have a "Vendor Section" on this forum and some of these guys are there and also there are forum members that can help you out too

Thanks for the info, and welcome.

So far I have ordered a key fob (didn't come with one), an owner's manual set, and a new maf sensor.

Welcome! Sounds like a nice car.

And the Grand Prix is safer than any mustang or integra, if that makes you feel any better haha.

After taking it out for a quick spin just now, I'd say it's a bit faster than either of them too. ;) I just took a few quick pics but can't figure out how to post them here from my phone.

If you download the photobucket app on your phone, you can upload the pics there. After that copy the "IMG code" and paste in here. voilah. done. :)

I actually figured it out, but they were too big, so I emailed them to myself, re-sized them, and am trying again...lol.

Sucks that you can't simply add the actual pictures here, but links will work...

The prix looks pretty damn clean.

and that chevelle.... oh man. I just creamed my jeans. That's what ALL cars should sound like!

HAHAHA...don't do that! lol...It's a baby big block at only 402 cubic inches, but I am building a 496 for it.

The GTP is pretty clean, but is cruddy now due to the rain that just stopped a few hours ago. I know he can't wait to shine it up...

Photobucket is the way to go, simple to set up and use. Once files are uploaded there, you insert the link here and the picture will display.

Nice rides and the GP looks sweet!
: )
