New GTP owner in southeast MI

Greetings,

I am new to the Pontiac scene, just purchased a 2000 GTP 4-door with 128k miles. It is definately one fast machine! Fully loaded and in pretty nice shape. I just need front and rear bumper skins and new winshield.
I am opting to replace the windshield with a regular Gran Prix glass instead of the over priced HUD windshield. If my HUD doesn't show up as well, I am not that concerned. Has anyone done this before, if so what were the results?

I look forward to talking with everyone here on the boards and welcome any advice from all you seasoned Pontiac enthusiasts!

Thanks!

welcome, if you replace the glass with a non hud glass you just wont see any #s, which you said you didnt car about anyways.

Well, I had the windshield replaced with "normal" Grand Prix glass and I can still see my HUD no problem. $175 for normal glass sure beats $350 for HUD special glass any day of the week.

For anyone looking to replace a HUD windshield, normal GP glass does work.

hmm mine didnt, wtf lol

I will admit it's not as bright as before, but I can still see it easily. I have also read in these forums where guys have installed a HUD form a GTP into a Grand Prix that did not have HUD originally. I don't see anything suggesting they replaced their windshield with the optiview coated windhsield.
Maybe your HUD is not as bright as it should be?
