New downpipe and SES light now

So I put on my 3" downpipe, now after driving for a while it will pop on the SES light saying bank 1 lean (i forget the code exactly). Now the downpipe was used and came with an O2 sensor already in it. Could this be my issue is the O2 sensor is just bad? I know these things are on the edge of still working with the PCM but I just wanted to see if I should replace that or just get an O2 sim.

might be the o2 sensor (front one). or maybe your tune is just off because of the downpipe so youre actually running lean.

got any vacuum or exhaust leaks?

If its the P0420 code that is an exhaust code thrown by the rear 02 to tell you the cat is running too high of flow. I throw the same code every now and then and it started when I got my DP. Two things here....

1. Did the DP have a highflow cat on it? brand of DP?

2. If you tell us what code it is we would be more than happy to help ya but its kinda hard to if we dont know what the exact reading is.

give us that and we can provide a solution for ya hopefully :)

They set codes for the post cat bank 2 tho don't they? He said bank 1 in the first post which is the one the controls the afr. I think some extra oxygen might be hitting it from an exhaust leak at the rear mani from the downpipe install.

Well I will have to check those things out. I did have a rather big exhaust leak where the catback and downpipe attached which i took care of this weekend. I will drive it and see if the code goes off again. If it does I'll try replacing both O2 sensors and if that doesn't fix then it will be a O2 sim. I believe its a ZZP downpipe with the magnaflow cat.

The magnaflow high flow cat has been known to set SES codes anyways...that might be your issue right there.

Alright so the code was P0420, I didn't delete it from the day before I guess. So far drove to work 30 miles so we'll see what happens.

Yeah it came on again so I'll try new O2's and see what that brings, if that doesn't fix it then I'll put O2 sims on it..
