new cars

undecided

New member
so about a week from when i got my car my brother put it in the ditch.
and when i had it realligned recently they told me the frame was slightly twisted and they cant fix it because of some rust.
so i have finally decided on buying a new car.
im gonna save as much as i can and i want your opinions on cars with good potential. i want a car that i can put a turbo on and will be somewhat reliable. any suggestions as to what to look for?

get a WRX. so long as you dont drive like a tool the transmissions hold pretty well up to around 350+ awhp. ill be in the market for an STI next year after i get a good year of work under my belt at the new job.

are the regals reliable?
and id get a wrx but im helping my friend do the tranny on his right now and its a pain
he had to order parts from japan to fix it

no he didnt, but the 'JDM' parts are supposed to be better. he could have gotten a damn near bullitproof gear set stateside for a couple grand.

however, what kind of car are you looking for? a family hauler? a fun DD? manual or automatic? what size engine? need more info to give you a good suggestion.

his parts got back ordered so he said screw it and went with the jdm stuff
and i want a fun dd preferably manual rwd or awd
and the engine just needs to be reliable cuz whatever it is i plan on doin a turbo
ive thought about buyin a shell and reusing my 3800 cuz its still good but ive never done an engine swap so id probally end up killing it

and i hope to god i wont need a family hauler till im at least 25ish and outa college

2.0 jetta turbo or a vr6 turbo? thought i would mention it because they are reliable and you mentioned the jetta in your sig. :P

Avoid VW by all means, you will regret that! Go with a Subi, especially if you have to drive in snow, you'll love it! Great all around car, pretty cheap to mod for the most part and high horsepower with decent economy, and can still throw a car seat in the back if need be!

dunno, its a tough choice. there are a lot of setups. do you plan on modifying it a lot or do you want to keep it relatively stock. if the latter then you can spend more on the car itself.

you might not be able to get a 'nice' WRX for less than 15k though. i bought my 06 impreza with 33k miles for $14k out the door and its not in perfect condition by any means.

well im from a car family
and was raised around the go big or go home theory

im also the fan of sleepers and the unexpected

find a higher mileage ls1 car, you can have those around $10k. $5k in mods into it will go a very long way (blower).

or if you want to be 'unique' (also known as cheap) you can get an l36 camaro or firebird and run a healthy turbo setup on it and run 11s for a reasonable amount of money.
