New 2005 Grand Prix and New to Forum!

Hello everyone! Just got a new-to-me 2005 Grand Prix today. It will hopefully be used to teach my daughter how to drive next year once she turns the legal age to get a permit. It has 154K miles on it. I drove the car home from where I purchased it (about 110 miles or so) and it ran great. The 3800 engine has plenty of power and the tranny worked fine also. I did notice that the tranny fluid is dark brown and so it probably was never changed since the car was new. It does have a few problems, all minor (so far anyway): a couple of burned out bulbs, a cracked windshield, and the most serious is pulsating brakes. I plan to take care of these in the next few days, starting with new pads and rotors for the front wheels and maybe the rear ones also. I read a couple of threads already about changing the tranny fluid; correct me if I'm wrong but the consensus seemed to be to drop the pan, get rid of the fluid in it, change the filter, replace the pan and refill - and not worry about the fluid left in the torque converter. I'll probably do that as well, although I'm a little nervous about that as the tranny works fine. But I also don't want filthy fluid in it as well! Any recommendations?

Greetings to all of you from Alabama! Looks like a great forum and thanks to all of you who contribute! All the best and Merry Christmas!
