New 1997 GTP owner with rattle at idle issue

I just got a 1997 GTP with a few mods on it........seems to be in line with the recommended stuff

Headers, Exhaust and high-flow cats
port and polished heads
comp cam with roller rockers
Msd ignition and wires
Electric water pump
Intake kit
Stock SC so far.....next mod once rattle is fixed
Retuned by local dyno shop


Problem is is has a rattle at idle, I replaced SC coupler and its still there........I undid both belts its still there, so I'm guessing that its the harmonic balancer thats gone bad, can someone help confirm this for me? thx

Sound goes away with any rise in rpm.....I checked idler pulleys when the belts were off, they all seemed in good shape.

I did remove both belts.....rattle was still there

Just replaced the harmonic balancer........Fixed the rattle! :th_thumbsup-wink:

Now I have a little belt squeal with the A/c on plus the accessory belt seemed little loose when I pulled it. Gonna try a 1/2" shorter belt cause I dont think the tensioner is getting a good pull......I have non-OEM size accessory belt because the electric WP, guess its a trial by error with that
