Neutral Safety Switch 1995?

Hello -

Searched archives - couldn't find answer, so here goes.

My daughters 1995 3.1 Grand Prix occasionally will not start (no crank). If I switch from Park to Neutral and back a few times - it will start. This doesn't always work . . . sometimes just waiting a few hours seems to fix it. This is an very intermittent problem (rarely happens) over the last few year but has been occuring more and more.

Does that sound like the neutral safety switch? I went to AutoZone.com and they seem to list two different Neutral Safety Switches for the the 1995 3.1 Grand Prix . . . one looks mechanical ($12) and the other looks electrical ($70)

Needless to say I am a bit confused.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can you get a picture of the switch. It is located on the transmisision where the cable moves the armature to actuate the trans

Thanks Bill. I'm still a little confused about an interior version of the switch? See attached pic from AutoZone.com

Two different types of switches are shown - both are listed as "Neutral Safety Switch" for 1995 Grand Prix 3.1

So - the electrical version (transmission) is the one I need?

One more question - could a switch as such work intermittently with only rare failures? (over a three year period?)
