Needle Bearings falling out of Driver Trans Axle

Replaced driver axle to day and needle bearings fell out of the Transmission. This is not good i have had the car for 2 weeks.Is there a repair or is this a rebuild problem.When i bought this Gtp the owner told me there was a slight clicking left side.

Those needle bearings are in a race that's installed in the channel plate. If you pull the seal, you MAY be able to pull the bearing, but it won't be easy. Best would be to take the channel plate out, but that involves dropping the driver side of the subframe a few inches, removing the side cover, wiring harness, pump, valve body, and finally channel plate.

Why couldn't it have been the passenger side, that one would be much easier.

I would remove the channel plate and do it out of the car. I had to replace my bearing there too because the race had a "chip" taken out of it, and it would allow the bearings to fall out. I didn't want to take the chance of it turning into a grenade, so I replaced it with a new one.

I used a bearing/seal driver tool kit from my brother, and my arbor press to insure I did it smooth, and correctly.

Hey thanks well after much research i was going to do just that and remove channel plate. I was quoted 900.00 to repair.I say not going to happen.I can do this work but without insight we are blind. ( agreed) Thanks for your information.

Well job done and i feel it could have not gone any better.When taking apart for inspection other problems were evident.Thrust washer for VSS and 4th gear hub.Clutch plates had wear and the apply plate was installed backwards.Given all this i replaced all affected parts.This transmission is better then i thought it could be. So again i say thank you all for the information.Now my 03 gt is acting up with trans issues. Oh what fun to have 2 GPs.:th_laugh-lol2:
