Need some help on the Reverse Servo Seal.

I have a question, I took my car in to get the seal checked out. My question is how long does a job like that take to get done? I'm looking for an estimated time I know it varies from shop to shop. The reason I ask this is this shop opens at 8am and I got a call from them at 8:37am telling me that the reverse servo piston and seal are good and that it is an internal issue. My first thought is damn they already checked it that fast. Is it possible?? Or should I take it just take it somewhere else?
 


It's possible it could be checked out in 30 minutes. The Reverse servo cover, seal, and piston are accessible from right on top of the trans case.
 
Dont you have to remove the throttle body, crossover pipe the and rear exhaust manifold to get to it? I just left the trans shop and they didn't open the servo cover. They just told me that it can be the sun shell (something like that) may need to be replaced. How could they tell if the seal is good if they didn't even open it up?

yes i did my self and it was a PITA to get the snap ring off...most trans shops will say they need to drop the trans...if you completely lost reverse its not the servo seal tho i lost mine and it was a worse reverse band.....(effin around in reverse in the snow :) cost me 1000 lol)
 
I actually do have reverse when cold or when I just turn on the car. Today I did notice the car got reverse after it was warmed up but it was slipping a little bit. Like I had reverse but with no power. The forward gears work good, the car pulls good.
 
thats exactly how mine was and it was a bad reverse band...i'd try the reverse servo seal yourself first to eliminate the cheapo fix and if its not that its prob a worn reverse band and you gotta drop the trans....if its that your slipping reverse will slowly become no reverse and only work when its freezing cold...
 


Thanks for the input! Was it very difficult to get to the servo? Any tips I may need on doing this job? Any help would be great, thanks in advance!
