Need some advice for GPF...

OKay heres the story. My girlfriend is decently religious but not over the top, her parents on the other hard...hardcore church people. Well they decided I need to start going to church because its the "right thing to do". Well I've never been and honestly I don't have any interest to ever go. Im not saying I don't believe but never once in my life have I sat in a church on a sunday, its just not what my family did. I told her i might go some weekend but its never something Im gonna do every weekend because once again...not how i was raised. She then proceeded to get all pissed of at me.

ANyone have a similar thing in the past? What would you do?

Did the religious GF thing...she changed significantly when she went to college. Turned into a whore. Leave her now. You'll thank me later.

thats a tough one, super religious people can be hard to deal with. they can be very narrow minded when it come to non practicing boy friend.

sounds like a ticking time bomb.
i would break up with her now. shes already pissed at YOU for having your own beliefs. wtf!?
she should be pissed at her parents for trying to impose their own beliefs on you. IMO.

Yeah if her parents are super hard core religious, they are going to want their daughter to have a super hard core religious boyfriend, and you should not change who you are to be with someone.

See it been 5 months, and shes one of the better girlfriends I have ever had. Its not so much her being super religious, its her crazy ass parents. She doesn't talk about it a whole lot, but randomly she brings it up and all hell breaks loose. She knows I have absolutely no interest but she wont let the fact go.

thats my bestfriends story in a nut shell girlfriend doesnt really care but mom is a lunatic not just cuz she goes to church but she is crazy everyime he leaves her house he slams his door and burnsout id reccomend doing the same

Overtly religious people are notoriously insecure; if you say anything that could even remotely be construed to be insulting to their religion they will take serious offense and often disregard anything else you have to say. 99pgpgt probably gave the best advice for you, but depending on where she is in life Hitman's post is also valid.

It's a tricky situation, to be sure, but boils down to basic relationship advice: If she can accept you as you are despite what others say you'll do great; if not, well maybe someone else will. :/

dude i had the same experience and if i could do it all over again i would have left her as soon her parents tried to get me to go to a mormon chruch....

I dont get why everyone is telling you to break up with her?

No, dont do that. A good relationship is worth fighting for. Just because it gets tough, doesnt mean you need to quit and walk out of the relationship.

Be honest with her and tell her the truth, satisfy her and go to church just once, but tell her it wont be weekly thing.

Honesty is key in a relationship, tell her what you told us.

Wife and wife's family is kinda like that.

My job doesn't afford me the time to go to church at normal times. -- They got over it.

ALot of times my job doesn't either. Im either at my normal job, or doing the army thing. And i have told her what i originally posted but it seems like it goes in one ear and right out the other.

make some eloquent speech about how love is the only thing that matters.
