• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Need quick help.

Ok I'm looking to find out how I can remove my power seat. Motor is acting funny and I wanna change it but if course it only moves up enough for me not to reach the bolts to remove it lol.

Any ideas? Wanna get this done tomorrow if possible

Edit. Moves back just fine. Just not all the way forward

Two bolts in the back of the seat. I think they are 15mm. Then the front of the seat is held in with two J shaped brackets so you push the seat forward to lift to free the seat.

See the issue is that I can't reach the bolts lol. The seats don't move up enough for me to. Access to the bolts

Take a look at how the hose hooks onto the evap switch under your hood or refer to a post about doing a fuel pump. The oval clip that needs to be squeezed into a circle to come off is what I'm referring to.

That oval clip that gets squeezed is how the drive shafts under the seats are held in place. If you find the correct one and unhook it.. you can then use a drill to drive the shaft and move the seat forward. However..I have ... successfully removed seats in a JY w/o power and while the bolts were tough to get at. Ratcheting wrench with pivoting head is all you need.

Nah..when you pull the end by the motor, it'll have a square shaft sticking out. Put your drill on that and hit go

Since I like to do things different, if I have a power seat issue like that, I take the seat off of the seat base then I have tons of room to access the two rear bolts from the top. Takes about the same amount of time IMO too.

How to remove the seat base? It's a heated power seat

4 13mm bolts. Remove lower seat trim, gives plenty of access to the D/S front bolt, then there a P/S front bolt and two in the back. That allows you to flip the seat forward and go almost straight down on the two bolts that hold the frame to the car.

FWIW there is room without going forward on the seat to remove the bolts. The trouble is getting to them. Hence the ratcheting wrench.

Ok found which one is acting crazy, it jerks once it hits the limit that it reaches. So my options are the bolt remove or just turn the shaft until it moves up enough

... are having shaft issues... .

That's what she said. Sorry, had too

You never know what you'll find under a car seat. I recently and successfully got a power seat working again by removing several pounds of animal hair off of every mechanism under the seat, and lubing up all the moving parts.
The car smelled better afterwards too :D
