looking to replace my struts what is the best way to do. for me to buy it all and put them in my self. or buy the them give it to a shop to do. or just take it to a shop. im not sure how much work it is to do struts and not sure what ones to get can someone help me out.

It's always cheaper and better to do it yourself if you know what your doing. Options depend on what you want. For more performance, lowering springs and AGX struts. For stock replacement, GR-2 struts. For stock replacement with less work, complete KYB strut assemblies. The last option needs only basic hand tools. For anything that requires removal of the spring from the strut, you will need a spring compressor also.

does anyone have something written up on it to help me out. i have dont springs before but i wasn't doing it i was helping someone and it was a diff car.

hey thanks alot dsh1106 i think i will get one of my buddies to help it will save me alot of money. my dad paid 1000$ at carX on is 04 GTP

Just went through it on my GTP, changed for GR-2, And eibach springs. I dont know what but car looks great, only rides hard, very hard. I would go with vogtlands if i had to do it over.

With install of spacers and blower resistor install i paid for labor 350.
But now i have feeling im going to do it over, because there some strange feel in it. And i will put KYB boots on it.

did you cut your bump stops? bet you didnt and youre riding on them.

Just installed GR2s a few weeks back (05, 70K miles, stock springs). My mechanic wanted $1200 for Delcos and $850 for Monroes. Bilstein/hiperf would have set me back $250 apiece online. The wife wanted a cost/benefit analysis, Sooo I went with GR2s/mounts/isolators/bellows/etc from Rockauto for $600 and installed them myself. The rears were the Strutplus assemblies with springs. KYB doesn't offer the assemblies for the fronts (but I already had a spring compressor).

Advice: Don't forget the camber bolts. In the brain drain of sorting out all the parts to order, I totaly overlooked these. They are cheap and are needed to adjust the camber. I ended up with ~0.5 degs of negative camber in the front and ~1.5 degs in the rear. Others are running ~1.5 degs of negative camber apparently without tire wear issues. When swinging the BFH to knock the lower strut bolts out, be careful, I hit an ABS sensor on the rear and cracked it. Had to replace the bearing/hub assy (you need a pneumatic chisel but that's another story). Also, when stacking the upper parts for the fronts (on the 2nd strut), I noticed the stock parts had a thin clear plastic dirt shield not included in the KYB parts. It was one of those #(*$% Me! moments. Ended up pulling the 1st front strut out again and putting in the dirt shield (maybe 30 additional minutes).

Bottom line: GR2s are a good stock replacement and have a smooth damping action to them. They took out the float and rebound I was starting to get when I have to go into NYC and deal with the crappy roads. Hope they last.
