need help with shift solenoid

Hi i need help on how to put in a shift solenoid in my 2001 grand prix GT 3800 V6. i do know i can go throuth the driver side wheel and lower the subframe but i dont know what that is and is in the side of the trans but i never did work on a trans before so anything will help please.
