Need help with my turbo build

Classy Pontiac

New member
Alright i have a garret m24 a/r 60 turbo with a tial f38 wastegate. I will have a custom crossover and a custom DP. I will get a BOV in the future. But im not worried about that. What im worried about is that i need to figure out how to layout the vaccuum lines. I want jave a BC right away but maybe in the future. This whole project is being done on a 06 3.8l N/A. If anyone one could help that would be greatly appreciated.

You need a 05 pcm thats for sure... as you probably cant tune the 06.

Vac lines are easy... leaving everything stock works fine, run one of them to the bottom of the wastegate for your boost control. There are a few types of boost controllers, would have to know what style you are using.... I suggest the regulator type (turbonetics style), that go to the top port of the wastegate. They just use regular boost reference to go straight to the top of the wastegate with the regulator in line.

I know about the pcm too. But would i need a boost controller if my wastegate has a 9 psi spring in it. I dont want to run much higher than 9. I now understand the wastegate vac but what about the BOV?

bov needs to be able to see engine vac, thats about it. Just give it a line from something behind the throttle blade.

Well i just ordered 60# injectors. But would i need any other supporting mods? Ill upload pics later tonight because there on my computer at home.

I'm running a turbo smart boost controller and can't adjust boost. I'm sure I might have the boost controller hooked up wrong.

My vacuum goes like this:
Bottom wastegate to MBC
MBC to T fitting
BOV to T fitting
Top waste gate to T fitting
T fitting out to top port of M90 case

In other words everything is connected to the t fitting then goes to the top port of the M90 case. Doesn't matter how many clicks I do on the MBC it doesn't go above wastegate spring.

Any suggestions being stuck on 11 PSI sucks

It's a CT kit...

Sorry that the pictures are huge but I'm still trying to figure out how to use this forum. But anyways I'll add another pic tomorrow about the vac line. Anyways what I would need for this build would be:

turbo
wastegate
BOV
Oil lines
vac lines
injectors
bigger fuel pump
piping

Would I need anything else, and btw do you know how long the stock tranny would last or should I upgrade right away.

Thanks for all your help.

I wouldn't even bother with the stock tranny if you can afford a built one. The stock trannys don't hold up to alot of abuse. They can be hit and miss sometimes but most will end up taking a dump.

I would suggest at minimum 60lb injectors. 42's don't cut it and I wish I would have just gone with the 60lbers.

I always suggest T'ing in behind the throttle blade... That port on top of the PCV valve is just the go-to port for stattama inspired turbo stuff... Its what I have always done anyway..

Any thoughts on my vacuum setup(previous post) on why I can't up the boost?

The only downfall to having everything T'd into the same vac source is that if it develops a leak or a hose blows, you lose everything, including the wastegate's ability to regulate boost, then boom.

Wastegate and BOV should each have their own source of vac, but it isn't always a perfect world.

How close does that crossover setup come to the TB or are you going to be going with a F-body or stattama passenger style tb setup?

Well im trying to figure out which way would be the easiest and the most reliable. Im leaning towards the way the picture diagram is but not %100 sure.

Thanks for all your help guys.
