Hey guys I have to get a new steering rack and I am at a loss as how to tell (with my car not in my possession) I know that I should be able to just look at the rack and see the harness hanging off. But I do not have my car at the moment. What I can tell you is that I have a 99 grand prix gt. would the Vin be helpful? I have called my local dealership 4 times and they have still not gotten back to me.. Surprise surprise... So any insight would be helpfull! Thanks
 


take a picture of your service parts sticker on your rear trunk lid and post it up here.

Make sure the vin on there matches the one under your windshield first though.

NV7 is the RPO code for magnasteer.

Another way to tell is to look at the power steering line going over the exhaust.

If it has a sliver heat shield, its non magnasteer.

This is assuming no ones removed that heat shielding though.

Best bet is SPI sticker and look for NV7.

Used to be a site that decoded the vin and told you which RPO's were on that vehicle (compnine.com) but long story short, they're gone now.
