Recently purchased a 2000 Malibu 3.1 from someone who was experiencing LIM gasket failure. Long story short. Purchased the car. Drained oil. Tore engine apart and got down to where I saw the gasket fail. I took the pushrods out and marked in a box to ensure they went back where they belonged. Replaced gasket with better metal felpro one. After reassembling the motor I cannot track down or fix this misfire.
Things replaced and checked:
Compression = Good
Injector Balance Test = Good
All ignition components replaced.
The misfire occurs mostly at idle from what I can tell. Seems fine over 2000 rpms. Once I take my foot off of pedal, you can hear it putting in the exhaust and light comes in eventually and sometimes flashes.
