My budget rims restoration

Hi guys, so I picked up some 17 inch borbet wheels for my 01 gt. I gave 40 bucks for all 4. They had been completely bombed in black paint to hide the road rash and peeling/chipping factory finish. I figured for 40 bucks I could try to make them look decent and throw them on the car and since they are not perfect run them year round. So last night I spent several hours with aircraft stripper, some brass pads, and a little bit of 220grit. Today I primed them and hit 2 of them with some graphite textured wheel paint and I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. Still got 2 more to go but they need a lot more prep work.

And 17 inch! I was hoping to find some pre-gens but couldn't even find any at the junk yards

I can't remember exactly, but I found it at O'Reilly's I was searching for something that could hide how damaged the wheels are. This stuff has a light texture to it that filled in almost all of what the primer didn't. I will grab a picture of the can next time I go to my shop. I need to get more since one can covered only 2 wheels front and back. I found some 235/50/17's that are pretty new for 100 is that a good size? They had 235/55/17 on them when I got them but I feel like a 50 would look better. Tires will be towards the end of the month got to buy my new rocker arms next week.

what paint you using there? it came out damn good.
Here is a picture of the can. And I grabbed some nice tires super cheap was wondering if a 225/55/17 will be fine? I was hoping to find some 225 50's but no luck

Stuff is amazing, the texture fills in most all of the major Nicks and bruises. Not perfect but the wheels look alot better than they did.

those are about the best size to match the stock tire. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=225-60r16-225-55r17

got to love that duplicolor.
Thank you. Well they don't look perfect but hey I'm seriously like 60 bucks into these things and I'm what is referred to as "broke" haha. Almost every mod on my car is used or fabricated by me or friends. But when it comes down to it I'm proud and pretty stoked that I am able to set my budgets for mods or enhancements and consistently stay under that budget.
